DSC Men’s Basketball Signs Top JC Forward Steven Larson

Dixie State College Athletics

ST. GEORGE – Head men’s basketball coach Jon Judkins announced that Steven Larson has signed a national Letter of Intent to attend Dixie State College and play for the Red Storm in the 2011-2012 season.

Larson comes to DSC after one year at Treasure Valley Community College.  While at Treasure Valley, Larson was the centerpiece for his team averaging 23.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. He lead the NWAACC in all three categories on his way to collecting all-conference honors.

Before his career at Treasure Valley, Larson prepped at Copper Hills High School in West Jordan, Utah.  During his senior season at CHHS, Larson was a First Team All-State selection and was named Region 3’s Most Outstanding Player.  Larson led Utah’s 5A classification in rebounding and was second in scoring, leading Copper Hills to its first ever semi-finals appearance in the state tournament.

“We are very happy about adding Steven to our team,” Judkins said. “It’s always exciting to add a player that has produced the way that he has at the junior college level and the high school level.  He is very good playing with his back to the basket and he will give us some additional rebounding and toughness on our front line.  He will be a great fit for our program moving forward.”
