ST. GEORGE – Utah philanthropist and defendant in a Federal investigation Jeremy Johnson may find his Memorial Day weekend plans being hampered by the government.

According to Vegas Inc, Johnson requested the use of his houseboat, which is being docked at Lake Powell, for a vacation with his family. However, Robb Evans, the receiver appointed by a federal judge to take control of Johnson’s assets, has challenged that request saying Johnson, who now reportedly lives with his family in Costa Rica, should not have the funds to travel with his family from Costa Rica to Lake Powell since his assets have been frozen.

Attorneys for Johnson are requesting Johnson have access to his funds so that he may pay basic living expenses and the mortgage on his St. George home. According to Vegas Inc, Evans believes Johnson is using funds from a rental property and helicopter rides that he is not claiming to the government.

Johnson is one of many defendants in a lawsuit by the Federal Trade Commission that alleges he victimized hundreds of thousands of consumers by charging their credit cards without authorization.

SunFirst Bank is also being investigated for their role in processing the payments in the alleged internet scam. The Las Vegas Sun reports SunFirst Bank is working with federal regulators.
