Driver in Hit-and-Run Found, Charges Pending

UPDATE: A press release from the St. George Police Department states the driver of the vehicle, “Had been present at the scene when police and medical personnel arrived.  The driver provided a statement to police, but failed to disclose that they had been actually involved in the accident.  After leaving the scene, the driver later contacted the police department and identified themselves as the driver involved.”

Officer Johnny Heppler said the vehicle has been processed for evidence and is the vehicle that was involved in the hit and run.

A fund for Marva Cutler has been set up at Mountain America Credit Union.

ST. GEORGE – Officers have identified the person who is accused of allegedly hitting Marva Cutler, 59, with a vehicle and leaving her on the street.

“We have the driver of the vehicle,” Sgt. Craig Harding said. “We are reviewing possible charges with city and county attorneys.”

Harding said the person, however, has not been arrested at this time. The person identified is aware of pending charges, or at least has been interviewed by police as they are confident that he or she will not flee.

“We have no inkling of an indication that the person to be charged will leave the area,” he said.

Harding said several leads came into the police department and one of them panned out.

Harding said no further information is being released until attorneys decide which charges to file and the person is arrested. He said police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Marva Cutler was found by a passerby at approximately 3100 S Little Valley Road Tuesday morning just before 8 a.m. lying on the road after going for a morning jog. Cutler was on the west side of the road and the vehicle was driving on the east of the road heading northbound, when the driver apparently crossed the center and hit Cutler.

I’m probably going to come off sounding like a jerk for saying this, but really? Flea? Did this article not get proof read? I’ll give you a hint. A flea is a small parisitc insect that lives in the fur and hair of animals by drinking their blood. Just had to point that out.

That’s the first thing I noticed, too, but it’s spelled correctly in the very next sentence. Too bad spell checker doesn’t flag things like that, too.

More importantly, they found the idiot who hit her! According to The Spectrum (not that it’s a good source for credible information), the driver was at the scene when police arrived, but didn’t admit to anything… WTF is going on around here? We’re surrounded by crooks like Jeremy Johnson (cheap shot, I know) and this guy/gal who nearly kills a woman and just continues on with his/her business.
