ST. GEORGE – The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating an industrial accident that killed a St. George man.
Sgt. Dan Ferguson said Charles Grundy was killed this morning at Utah’s mile marker 36 near the Ranch Exit when he was hit by a front-end loader driven by a coworker.
Ferguson said Grundy was standing southbound on Interstate 15 with his back turned while talking on his cell phone. A coworker did not see Grundy and accidentally ran him over while driving the loader, Ferguson said.
Grundy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ferguson said UHP is investigating the accident and believes Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will also conduct a separate investigation.
