Business of Art Seminar in Kanab early November

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah and The Center for Education, Business and the Arts will host the Third Annual Business of Art Seminar on Nov. 11 and 12 at Kanab Middle School.

The seminar was created to assist aspiring artists from Utah, northern Arizona and southern Nevada to enhance their business skills.

This free seminar is for visual artists in all disciplines and will provide an exciting schedule of classes presented by knowledgeable professionals from Salt Lake City, Cedar City, St. George and Kanab.

The concept for this seminar was created by CEBA, a regional economic development organization centered in Utah’s Kanab and Kane Counties.

“Dixie State College has served the educational, cultural, and community enrichment needs of southwestern Utah and beyond for over 100 years,” said Christina Schultz, DSC Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Cultural Arts. “We are pleased that we can continue our service to the community by expanding our ‘Business of Art’ event to include a Friday evening program along with our traditional Saturday offerings.”

The event will begin on Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m., with a reception, entertainment, remarks from Honorary Founding Co-Chairs Paul and Susan Bingham, and a keynote address by San Francisco filmmaker Richard Enriquez.

The seminar itself will begin on Nov. 12 with registration and a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by three hourly workshop sessions starting at 9 a.m. The seminar will also host a luncheon at noon, featuring keynote Scott Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Zions First National Bank, followed by two more sets of hourly workshop sessions beginning at 1:40 p.m.

Other key features of the event include: A round-trip luxury bus ride from St. George to Kanab for attendance at the seminar, cost $15 per person; and an artist’s showcase during which artists can display their work during the duration of the seminar (limited to 2 pieces per artist).
