ST. GEORGE – At 1:20 a.m., on March 16, 2012, St. George Police officers were called to an accident at the Bliss Salon on North Bluff Street.
Capt. James Van Fleet of the St. George Police Department said that a 19-year-old St. George resident was driving North on Bluff street when he veered off the road, traveled across a parking lot and into a building at 767 N. Bluff Street.
Extensive damage was done to the building including water damage from broken water pipes, interior and exterior walls; several foot massage stations and nail stations were destroyed.
According to Van Fleet’s statement, the driver indicated he fell asleep at the wheel. Officers investigated the accident and determined that the driver was in fact taking medication that he should not be driving on.
A DUI investigation proceeded and the driver was found to have been driving under the influence of prescription medication to the point that he could not safely operate his vehicle. He was cited and released at the hospital. The driver’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening to the officers on scene who communicated with him.
