ST. GEORGE – Today is Good Friday, a day when Christians offer reverence and reflection of Jesus giving Himself over to the Cross, in perfect sacrifice for the sins of people. It is a celebration for those who receive Christ as their Lord and Savior, for because of that sacrifice they embrace a whole relationship with God.

In St. George, Fathers Oscar Martin Pecos and Tai Nguyen, of the St. George Catholic Church, invite all to participate in the sixth Annual Ecumenical Way of the Cross, a walk on foot beginning at 11 a.m. at Bluff Street Park. All are welcome and encouraged to gather early.

At least 15 local churches, representing several denominations, will join in the officiating at the various stations.

The group will proceed from Bluff Street Park one mile down Diagonal to 300 West ending at the St. George Catholic Church. A member from each church will carry the cross from one station to the next.  As they stop at each station, the pastors will  pray and the faithful will sing.

For these, it is a Good Friday indeed.

“…someone once said, Hell is the absence of reason” Charlie Sheen in “Platoon”

I thought of it for Passover, on Palm Sunday I want to offer myself up for crucifixion to the Conservative wackos. A Progressive offering for the right-wing to finally take out all their hatred of Liberals on me. I want to be the sacrificial lamb so they leave all humanity alone. No more senseless WARS, shooting young Black Americans, corporate greed, pepper spraying/jailing Occupy supporters, bombing Planned Parenthood stations, fouling the environment or Limbaugh/Fox hate speech. Republican degenerates have done much more damage to the USA than any terrorist.
I know, in the past, I’ve stated that Democrats/Liberals should be punching Republicans/Conservatives after the evil Bush/Cheney disaster but am re-thinking that stance. I had a vision, in Church, as the Priest was blessing the palms with holy water. I felt the holy water spray on my face and then… Well, I’ll be available for thorns, torture and nailing to the cross after my last supper on Holy Thursday afternoon.

But do they really need to walk down the middle of the road? Diagonal Street was basically shut down while this was going on.

Come on Greg, this is no different than the city blocking off tabernacle for “pioneer day” (isn’t that a religious holiday for Utahns?).
    .
I admit, its a terrible inconvenience for the roads to be blocked, but its for the “good” of the community.
