ST. GEORGE – The Utah Jazz season has come to an end after suffering an 87-81 loss in Salt Lake. The San Antonio Spurs advance to the Western Conference semi-finals to take on either the Clippers or Grizzlies.

The four-game sweep for the Spurs extends their winning streak to 14 games. The Jazz have now lost eight straight playoff games. The Jazz were also swept by the Lakers two years ago.

For the first time in the series, the Jazz slowed down the Spurs starters. Tony Parker, who has dominated the series, only scored 11 points on 4-14 shooting and only handed out three assists. Tim Duncan was also held to just 11 points on 4-10 shooting and Duncan only pulled down five rebounds.

The three other starters for the Spurs combined to just eight points – yes only eight points – and the Jazz still lost. Daniel Green scored five points, Kawhi Leonard scored just three points and Boris Diaw was held scorless.

So why did the Jazz lose? How did the Jazz lose? The bench. The Spurs bench outsocred the Jazz bench 57-10. Manu Ginobili broke out of his shooting slump scoring 17 points. Gary Neal and Tiago Splitter were also in double figures scoring 11 points and 10 points respectively.

The Jazz final started Derrick Favors who pulled in another double-doubles scoring 16 points and corralling 10 rebounds. Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap also had double-doubles. Jefferson finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Millsap scored 10 points while grabbing 19 rebounds.

Though Millsap’s points and rebounds look good, he did not play very well. Millsap went 4-17 from the floor, 0-3 from deep.

Devin Harris bounced back with a good game, scoring 19 points.

Gordon Hayward might have played the worst game of his career, going 0-7 from the floor and held scoreless.

The Jazz now go into the offseason with more questions then answers.
