COMMENTARY — Boxing’s pound-for-pound best fighter wants out of jail early saying, “Jail is inhumane and jail may end my boxing career because I can’t drink my Dasane bottled water from jail.” Mayweather is also refusing to eat jail food. Mayweather and his attorneys will go to court on Thursday to see if the state will grant him house arrest.
Don’t you just feel bad for this guy? No kidding, Floyd, you cant have your special water in jail. You get what you get. Floyd, you hit a woman, your girlfriend, in front of your kids. You took the plea. Sit there and do the time tough guy.
Floyd you are, according to yourself, the baddest man on the planet. But you can’t even make it behind bars two weeks. With all his complaining, Mayweather has only served 13 days.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be a celebrity? “Look at me, I need special water.” I’m sure every person that is in jail wants to get out on house arrest and sit in a mansion just off the Vegas strip.
Truth is, the boxer-turned-beater already caught a huge break from Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa, who moved Mayweather’s surrender date back so he could fight one more fight.
Mayweather pleaded guilty in December 2011 to misdemeanor domestic battery and no contest to two other harassment charges that stemmed from an attack on his ex-girlfriend while their two children watched. Mayweather was sentenced to 90 days and could have that shortened by a month for good behavior.
On Tuesday, Mayweather’s attorneys called for an emergency hearing and asked for him to be put into the prison’s general population. Because of his “celebrity” status, he was not originally put in general population. Saragosa has not yet ruled on this.
Thursday Mayweather and his high-priced attorneys will be back in front of the judge, this time asking that he be released on house arrest.
In the motion, which was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, lawyers say Mayweather’s personal physician, Dr. Robert Voy, visited the jail Friday and was concerned the 35-year-old fighter appeared to have lost muscle tone. Voy estimated the boxer was consuming fewer than 800 calories a day – a drop from his usual 3,000 or 4,000 calories – and that he wasn’t drinking enough because he isn’t allowed bottled water and doesn’t usually drink tap water.
Mayweather also said he cannot work out in jail because his cell is not big enough to do sit-ups and push-ups.
“I am concerned about Floyd withdrawing, developing anger he cannot dissipate through the usual means of dedicated exercise and training,” Voy wrote in an affidavit. “Boxing has been Mr. Mayweather’s life since he was a young man and we need champions of this type to continue to their natural retirement and hopefully their contributions to society thereafter.”
This is absolutely ridiculous. I’m a new father and one of the first things my wife and I will try to teach our kids is to respect women. Mayweather is 34 years old. I think it’s time to learn that he can’t hit his girlfriend, or any other woman, and get away with it. I know its an old saying but, “If you do the crime, you do the time.”
The State of Nevada and Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa have got to stay strong on this one. Don’t send the wrong message to our kids, to our young men, to our society. Make Floyd Mayweather stay in jail.

File this under “HAHAHAHAHAAAA” and “WAAAAH”. This guy is such a useless wienie. If he ever gets beaten by Pacquiao, he’ll always have jail as his “excuse”. And by the way, I have a feeling this will not be his last stint in the slammer. Idiots like this can never get out of their own way.
