ST. GEORGE – The Annual Art Festival is one of St. George’s largest and finest events, with broad appeal, drawing artists and visitors from great distances to share, absorb, stroll, buy and sell award winning art, enjoy free entertainment and indulge in an array of festival foods that are as much tradition as the festival itself.

The Art Festival is in its 34th year and is held in the middle of St. George in the Town Square. Blue skies, warm sunlight, kids playing in the water features, a variety of tents full of diverse art styles, the scent of barbecued food, sweet lemonade and Kettle Korn, with the sound of local up-and-coming artists makes the day entertaining and enjoyable just being there.

Jeanne Derrick from Salt Lake City and Cindy Pearson from Washington D.C. have traveled to St. George just to attend this festival and appreciate the nice weather. Martin Borja from Ecuador makes amazing sculptures from manganese bronze, one of which won the Mayor’s Choice and the Council’s Choice award.

Borja makes his manganese bronze sculptures with his own two hands. Lyndy Butler uses her gift from God, her voice, to sing her own songs she writes. Other artists use paint brushes to paint still life or something they create in their minds, while other artists use cameras and tools to make their art. To each his own and they’re all appreciated when they come together at this event.

The 34th St. George Art Festival continues tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A fine Art Festival again this year St. George thanks. The artist displayed top notched creations, the food vendors served up find , quality yummiest foods. The entertainment presented was quite good too.
One suggestion to make it more enjoyable for all– The east stage area, where entertainers performed, need some thoughtful consideration. The stage area had no protection from the hot sun rays. I felt so sorry for the young dancers. The surface of the quality dance floor must have been greater than 150 degrees. You could see it in their eyes. A simple canopy would help. (just a thought)

Too bad some of the great artists from last year were not there. What happened to local talent?
