ST. GEORGE –  In a continuing effort to connect its members to the community, the St. George Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon on Wednesday at the Courtyard by Marriott. The luncheon will feature City of St. George Mayor Jon Pike, sharing his vision for the future and a state of the city report.

Pike’s address will include updates on the city’s information services, roads and projects, the parks, the Electric Theater, SwitchPoint, and information on the proposed county Recreation, Arts and Parks tax.

Pike was raised in Salt Lake City and received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration from Westminster College. He has worked in several positions with Intermountain Healthcare since 1990.

One of the highlights of Pike’s career has been working as project manager for the planning and construction of Dixie Regional Medical Center on River Road, which opened in 2003. He currently works as the regional operations director for SelectHealth, the health insurance division of Intermountain Healthcare.

    State of city or church?

    • Simone August 31, 2014 at 12:47 pm

State of church’s hold on city. Lol

    • Jeff August 31, 2014 at 12:50 pm

The state of the church is doing real well as the sheeple continue to blindly follow and gave away their money. The state of the city is not good, just more adding of low paying service sector jobs! I also forgot Pike only speaks to the who’s who of STG. Why not have an open meeting with the public and discuss the state of the city, oh my bad John you don’t really give a crap what a common man in St George has to say!

So is Pike just another tool of the Mormon Corporation or what?

Sharing his vision? Meaning, shut up, listen and do as told as dictated by the City Qurom (aka council) of Five and don’t dare question their actions? Do citizens really have any input in the direction of this town?

WOW, here they come! All in a row.
I thought they were scheduled to protest out front of Walmart this weekend.

Will City Council Code Enforcement Exemptions be a topic?

Finally a Mayor with some credentials! Complain all you want about him, but he’s far more qualified and professional than our last mayor (no offense to him). I like his vision for the future instead of “whistlin’ dixie’s” past. If you don’t like him or his plans, you could always go live somewhere else? Like lovely California–with it’s crime, ineffective, budget-draining government, and outrageous living costs? Or maybe another city with double the unemployment, Half the quality of life we enjoy here? Just a thought!
