ST. GEORGE — Northbound traffic on Bluff Street in St. George was backed up about a mile Friday evening after four vehicles collided where Bluff Street meets Diagonal Street.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., a man driving a white Dodge Durango was traveling northbound on Bluff Street, near where Bluff Street and Diagonal Street meet just before the Sunset Boulevard intersection, when he crashed into a red pickup truck. The impact pushed the pickup truck into a silver passenger car, which then hit into the red passenger car in front of it, St. George Police Sgt. Wade Johnson said.
“The driver of the white Dodge Durango was looking around and not paying attention, came too fast and wasn’t able to stop,” Johnson said.
Gold Cross Ambulance transported the two male occupants of the silver passenger car to Dixie Regional Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Johnson said. No other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
The Durango and the silver passenger car were disabled and had to be towed from the scene, while the red truck and red passenger car were driven from the scene.
The driver of the Durango was cited for failure to stop, Johnson said.
The St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance attended to the accident scene.
The inside left lane of northbound Bluff Street was blocked off during cleanup of the accident scene, backing up traffic to just past 100 S. Bluff Street.
“It’s a terrible time of the day,” Johnson said. “It was right during the go home, rush hour traffic up Bluff Street. (Traffic) was snarled up for quite a time.”

just a typical day driving in stg. probly need to armor plate my car but i don’t know how to weld
Hey guess what? The Speed Limit there is 35 mph. Average speed is probably 45 to 50. Head North a block where it turns to 45 and they all blow around me at 60 to 70. I really don’t know why the city wastes our money on Speed Limit signs – they are totally ignored!
I wouldn’t believe everything Wade Johnson says. He tends to twist the truth. I know from experience with him. But back on topic that street is a nightmare and you take a risk driving on it at any time of day or night.
The armor plating, when complete, will bring risk to acceptable levels.
Just make sure you have a permit for the armour plating and make sure that the person that uses the duct tape is a licensed taper and has a city permit
