Police arrest teenager for vandalism spree, seek public help

HURRICANE — Hurricane City Police officers arrested a 15-year-old boy Thursday, after he vandalized 14 locations in the city with spray paint.

The vandalism occurred sometime during the night of March 10 or morning of March 11, Hurricane Police City Sgt. Brandon Buell said in a statement released Friday.

The locations included residential walls, the exterior walls of business buildings, a school, city park, church, and a city bridge.

“Through the investigation, we were alerted to two possible suspects by a deputy from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office,” Buell said in the release.

The juvenile was booked into the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center. School Resource officers worked the case, along with the help of the sheriff’s office.

Officers have found that the letters in the grafitti stand for “Crown to Gods” but are still working to determine the meaning.

“It is still being determined if this is just juveniles making this up or trying to start a gang,” Buell said.

The estimated cost of damage is approximately $2,000. City crews are working to remove the graffiti as quickly as possible, along with property owners.

According to the release, this type of incident is devastating to the community. The ability to remove the graffiti quickly, as well as locating the people involved is important.

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact the Hurricane City Police Department at 435-635-9663.

This sorta thing really bugs me. This kid should have to pay for the repairs and do some serious community service. But, I’m sure that he will get a slight lecture and released back to his parents who are probably just as irresponsible as he is. Grrrr
