“We have the natural terrain, a wide variety of stunning scenery and a mild 4-season climate which makes Kanab and Kane County the perfect spot for trail running,” said Tyler Cornell, Kane County recreation director. “We also have very cooperative and supportive public lands administrators in our area and we couldn’t do it without them.”

The Hog Wild Trail Relay is a two-person relay race taking place on the Cliff Trail, Connector Trail and Squaw Trail of Hog Canyon trail system just north of Kanab City Baseball Complex. Each person will alternate with their teammate and run two loops each totaling 13.8 miles per runner.

The Baseball Complex will serve as the “base camp” for the runners to set up their canopies and have a place to rest and prepare between their loops. Concessions will be served and it will be a fun place to come hang out and support the runners and cheer them on.

Registered racers will pick up their packet Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Jacob Hamblin City Park. After the race, Sept. 19, dinner will be served from 6-7 p.m. with an awards ceremony to follow.

Awards will be given to the fastest male team, female and co-ed team and for the craziest costume! There will also be over $2,000 in drawing giveaways.

Registration is open and costs $90 per team. The fee includes an event T-shirt, medal, S‘mores party, dinner and the chance to win great prizes.

For more information or to register for the new trail relay, go to the Hog Wild Trail Relay website.

Kane County will utilize the previously used “Run it Kanab” slogan to promote all running events that are in and around Kanab. You can go to  to see a list of more running events and you can also visit the new Run it Kanab Facebook page to see recent posts on running events.
