IRON COUNTY — A semitruck hauling a load of metal pipes rolled on state Route 56 in Iron County Wednesday afternoon, blocking the eastbound lane.
The accident occurred at milepost 43, west of Cedar City, at about 4 p.m.
The driver told authorities he was traveling west when he lost control of his trailer and then tipped on a turn, spilling the metal pipes he was transporting, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Nathan Clark said.
It’s not yet clear how the driver lost control, Clark said. The truck will be inspected to find out more about how the accident occurred.
The driver was the only occupant of the truck and sustained some minor scrapes but declined medical attention.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office and UHP responded to the scene.
