3AA Playoff Preview: What to watch for in Friday’s first round games

ST. GEORGE — Playoffs? Yeah, playoffs.

They start tonight with four first-round games at various locations around the state.

In this week’s 3AA South Preview, we take a look at what to expect on the gridiron tonight as Hurricane and Cedar host opening-round games and Pine View and Snow Canyon hit the road. A year ago, the South teams won three of four first-rounders and ended up claiming all four semifinal spots with quarterfinal wins as well.

Dixie, which finished fourth in the region, rose all the way to the top in the postseason. So who will it be this year? That journey of discovery begins tonight.

Watch the 3AA South Preview as Andy Griffin breaks down each matchup, gives you the favorites and even makes his own bold predictions.

First round games tonight (all games are at 5 p.m.)
Park City (5-5) at Hurricane (5-3) – CEC-TV, ESPNRadio 97.7 FM
Pine View (5-4) at Bear River (3-7) – 890-AM KDXU
Judge Memorial (3-7) at Cedar (4-5) – 590-AM KSUB
Snow Canyon (4-5) at Stansbury (7-3)

Check out Griffin’s bold predictions and the key players heading into the games, plus what to watch for. A special thanks goes out to sponsors Stapley Pharmacy and Robert J. Debry and Associates for backing the show and videography wizards Sheldon Demke and Michael Durrant.
