
SOUTHERN UTAH — The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a wind advisory for areas in and north of Garfield County Monday in effect through Tuesday morning.

Affected areas
Castle Country and portions of the San Rafael Swell and central mountains are subject to the advisory, including Price, Castle Dale, Emery, Green River, Hanksville, Cove Fort, Koosharem, Fish Lake. See map inset for.
Timing
The wind advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Monday when winds are expected to develop and persist through 10 a.m. Tuesday. This advisory supersedes the service’s high wind watch issued Sunday.
Winds
Winds northwest are forecast at 30 to 40 mph with gusts exceeding 50 mph.
Impacts
Strong crosswinds are expected to impact travel on state Route 10 from Price to Fremont Junction with strong winds also possible on Interstate 70 near Ivy Summit and Fremont Junction and on state Route 72 near Hogan Pass.
High profile vehicles and those towing trailers may be especially impacted.
Wind-sensitive operations may be impacted.
Precautionary, preparedness actions
A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Motorists in the advisory area should be prepared for sudden gusty crosswinds that can make driving difficult.
Motorists should take extra caution, especially while crossing bridges, overpasses and unsheltered areas.
