Parade of Homes opens doors on 28 new houses; unique design, celebrity house

ST. GEORGE  The 2016 St. George Area Parade of Homes is just days away from opening the doors of 28 brand new homes, continuing a long tradition of displaying a variety of spectacular homes and introducing exciting new trends to attendees across the state.

From Feb. 12-21, beautiful, fresh designs will be displayed in 28 new, stunning homes throughout St. George, Washington City, Ivins and Hurricane. Homes will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Closing day, Feb. 21, hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Presented by the Southern Utah Home Builders Association and Zions Bank, the St. George Area Parade of Homes is the largest in attendance in the state, with last year’s parade receiving more than 30,000 visitors.

This year’s parade is shaping up to be the best we’ve ever had, both in the quality of our homes and also in attendance,” association Executive Officer Mari Krashowetz, said. “It’s really exciting to watch as these homes all come together and transform into really impressive spaces.”

The theme for this year, “Five Stars,” reflects the quality and craftsmanship each home displays. With 13 homes valued at more than $1 million, and five of those at more than $2 million, parade attendees will find exceptionally well-crafted and carefully designed homes located in established as well as beautiful new residential areas across Washington County.

“These homes are much bigger and more luxurious than we’ve seen in the past few years,” Jake Joines, 2016 Parade of Homes chairman, said. “We even have a celebrity’s house in the parade.”

This year, the most expensive featured home is $3.99 million, and the least expensive homes are priced at $319,900. Special features include beautiful outdoor spaces, unique amenities, updated home technologies and the latest in interior design.

“Our homes showcase new technologies that create healthier homes and a better quality of life at all different price points,” Joines said. “With so much innovation in home building right now, it’s an exciting time to be involved with this event.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about featured homes, builders and designers as they walk through these spectacular houses.

“We hope this event will inspire our guests to realize that comfort and quality is achievable for any budget,” Krashowetz said. “Whether you are looking for new designs, builders or just decorating ideas for your own home, the parade is great for everyone.”

With the stunning red rock backdrop and sunny skies St. George offers, the Parade of Homes is an ideal escape from winter weather. Attendees can take their time enjoying the outdoors and viewing some of the gorgeous landscapes and gardens these homes display.

The official St. George Area Parade of Homes mobile app for Android and Apple devices is also back by popular demand. The free app allows attendees to preview homes and floor plans, navigate to the homes, access an e-ticket, view a list of building professionals and save notes and photos of favorite homes.
