At approximately 2:50 p.m., law enforcement officers and emergency personnel responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident in front of the Castle Rock subdivision at 2000 N. Snow Canyon Parkway, St. George Police Sgt Sam Despain said. When officers arrived, they found a gold Buick Century high-centered on a boulder with the severed light pole on the ground beside the vehicle.

“The vehicle was on Snow Canyon Parkway traveling west,” Despain said. “The driver stated that she fell asleep while she was going down the road … and just went off the road and hit a light pole and ended up in some landscaping.”

The driver was uninjured, and no citations were issued, Despain said. No other vehicles were involved.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

St. George Police, St. George Fire Department, St. George Energy Services and Gold Cross Ambulance all responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
