ST. GEORGE – Two young people were injured Tuesday evening in an ATV accident near Lower Sand Cove Reservoir outside of the small town of Gunlock.

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of the accident at 5:20 p.m.

A juvenile male was driving an off-highway vehicle with three other juvenile occupants, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective David Crouse said in a media statement.

“While attempting to negotiate a turn, the vehicle rolled onto the passenger side coming to rest on the passenger,” Crouse said.

The juvenile passenger was transported by Life Flight to Dixie Regional Medial Center with unspecified injuries, and the driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The male driver was referred to juvenile court for operating an off-highway vehicle without a valid license or OHV permit.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office declined to provide further details of the accident.

Gold Cross Ambulance and Santa Clara/Ivins Police Department also responded to the scene, Santa Clara-Ivins Police Officer Chad Holt said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
