ST. GEORGE — It’s a common business adage, one that consumers know by heart: “The customer is always right.”

Learning how to keep your customers and your employees happy – which will help a business owner retain both over time – is “The Art of Customer Service” and the topic of a St. George Chamber of Commerce training session Wednesday.

Deven McDonald, owner and operator of the St. George Chick-fil-A franchise, is the guest trainer at this Chamber function. McDonald has been at the helm of the St. George Chick-fil-A since its opening in March 2013.

Chick-fil-A is a 66-year-old family owned business and claims the title of being the second largest Quick Service Chain in the country, according to a press release issued by the Chamber.

The popular chicken fast food chain, which closes on Sunday, does more business in its six day work week than McDonald’s does in seven days, the release states. Turnover among Chick-fil-A’s 61,000 employees is a third of the industry average.

According to a Nov. 17 article in AdAge, Chick-fil-A recently redesigned its website in an effort to “strengthen the connection the chain has with its fans.” Innovations include the introduction of “The Chicken Wire,” which the company calls an embedded publication with stories, videos, GIFs, infographics and other content that focuses on food, hospitality and community.
