ENTERPRISE — The 27th annual “Enterprise Cornfest” will take place Saturday at the Enterprise City Park. Besides seeing – and sampling – the proverbial fruits of the gardeners’ and farmers’ labor, other activities will include vendors booths, live entertainment, corn eating contests and a classic car show.
The Enterprise Cornfest began in 1990, and it has grown bigger and better ever since, according to a press release for the event. These days, crowds of approximately 3,000-5,000 people come to partake in the agricultural bounty of the area, enjoy a day browsing vendor booths, participate in contests such as cow mooing and listen to fun musical acts.
Proceeds from this year’s Cornfest will benefit Enterprise Parks and Recreation and Enterprise schools.
In June, the community of Enterprise was awarded $200,000 from the Washington County tourism and recreation funds to help with the building of a community park in Enterprise that will act as a community gathering place for events like Cornfest, as well as a home for Enterprise schools and city sports, recreation and tourism.
