The National Weather Service-Salt Lake City issued a winter weather advisory with a forecast of 6-10 inches of snow expected to fall in the mountain regions of southwest Utah starting Monday at approximately 5 p.m. and going though to 8 a.m. Tuesday.

In addition to the snow, wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected and will taper off early Tuesday.

Areas affected by the advisory include the southern mountains and the cities Loa, Panguitch, and Bryce Canyon National Park.

The Utah Department of Transportation also reports that snowfall is expected to continue in the northern parts of the state through Thursday morning.

Motorists are advised to plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds may result in hazardous travel conditions, especially along higher elevation roads.

A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

For winter road conditions, visit the Utah Department of Transportation’s website or call 511.
