Donna Rae Wallis Jolley

Donna Rae Wallis Jolley, 89, finished her mortal journey Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021 in St. George, Utah.

She was born April 17, 1932 in St. George, Utah, to Archibald Douglas and Beatrice Larson Wallis. She was the oldest of three children. Following her were Cleone and Ernest Bruce.

Donna attended school in St. George graduating Dixie High in 1948. After graduating, she got a job working as an operator with the local phone company.

Even though she went through school with him, she didn’t really get to know Dale Jolley until after they had graduated. However, after a whirlwind romance because he was going into the service, they married on Oct. 11, 1952 in St. George, Utah. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple.

Donna continued working for the telephone company while Dale served in Korea. Upon his return they lived in St. George for several years. They were blessed with two children, Janet and Jeffery. After a few years they moved to Provo, Utah, where both Donna and Dale worked for telephone companies. After a year there they moved to Cedar City, Utah, to be closer to home.

There they added two more daughters, Terri Rae and Tracy Ann. They stayed in Cedar for 20 years before moving back to St. George. Donna and Dale remained in St. George the rest of their lives. Donna worked for the telephone company for over 30 years. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving many callings including temple work and service missions.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Janet (David) Mathews of St. George; son, Jeffery Dale (Mary Lou) Jolley of Burbank, CA; daughter, Terri Rae (Mark) Turley of Sandy, UT and daughter, Tracy Ann (Paul) Anderson of St. George. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother and sister, two sons-in-law and one grandson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. at the LDS Chapel across the street from the St. George Temple (449 S. 300 E., St. George, Utah). Friends may call Saturday, Dec 4, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the chapel. Arrangements are made under the direction of Hughes Mortuary, 1037 E. 700 S., St. George, Utah, 435-674-5000.

Interment will take place in the St. George City Cemetery immediately following the service.
