Marian Gray Hagen

Jan. 19, 1925 – Nov. 25, 2021

Marian Gray Hagen passed away quietly on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2021.  She was 96 years young.

Marian was born in Vernal, Utah, on Jan. 19, 1925, to James Adam and Iva Zora Marshall. Marian had four children: Sunny Merrill, Jacquie Slade, Steve Gray and Sharon Sears, 21 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Marian worked for IBM for 22 years, rising from an assembly line worker to a Manufacturing Parts Controller. When she retired, she moved to Utah and went back to BYU for a time and then went on a mission for the church to Washington, D.C., as a temple missionary.

Marian was a marvelous seamstress and talented gardener.  She used to say that she would rather work in the garden than eat, and since her flowers were always beautiful and she stayed slim all her life it must have been true.  She loved crossword puzzles and started almost every day doing one over breakfast …and mostly finishing them. She loved Jigsaw puzzles and had many of her finished ones framed and hung on her walls. She was always busy doing something.

Marian lived a rich, full life and everyone she came in contact with loved her.  She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the Lord. She was active with genealogy and family research and loved serving as a temple worker.  She had a kind word for everyone and was adored by her children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greats and all their families.

She drew people to her with her gentleness and caring. She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, you could contribute to Mom’s favorite charity “INDEPENDENT ME.”  It provides equipment for handicapped people that allows them to live with independence in their own homes. Send check to:
