DOVE Center’s largest and most important fundraiser of the year is going virtual with the organization’s 8th Annual Gala “On the Wings of Resilience” scheduled to take place March 25.
DOVE’s staff and gala planning committee have been preparing for the event since May. While this is the organization’s first virtual gala event, Board President Ruth Weniger said she’s confident it will be an event the Southern Utah community won’t want to miss.
“Our staff and planning committee have come together to create an event unlike anything we’ve done before, and I hope our guests will agree it was an hour well-spent,” she said.
The event, provided virtually by Stokes Auction Group and headlined by Sun American Mortgage, will be streamed through DOVE’s YouTube channel on Thursday, March 25 from 7-8 p.m. and will feature some of the same aspects as its past in-person galas: a silent auction, LIVE auction, Fund-A-Need, sharing of inspirational videos and entertainment.
“We chose the theme of ‘On the Wings of Resilience’ this year because 2020 brought many hardships,” said Executive Director Lindsey Boyer, “but it also showed us how resilient we are. Our clients are resilient; our community is resilient; and because of continuous support, DOVE Center is resilient.”
Unlike previous years, a ticket to access the event is only $25, giving more people an opportunity to attend. In addition, DOVE Center will be opening their silent and LIVE auctions in advance of the actual event — offering guests more time to bid on an item they want.
“The St. George community has done it once again,” Weniger said. “So many businesses and individuals have extended their help through sponsorships and great auction items to help us raise the funds required to support survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.”
Some new auction items this year include pilot flight lessons with Aviation Services Group, and tickets to Salt Lake Bees Baseball games. Some other auction items include fun activities to do in Salt Lake City, Zion National Park and Mesquite, Nevada, in addition to local art, fine jewelry, golf packages and more.
