Kundalini Yoga and Gong Meditation in Hurricane

Dr. Karambir Khalsa hosts an evening of Kundalini Yoga and Gong Meditation using two 40″ gongs. Kundalini Yoga has been called “the yoga of awareness” and combines mudra, mantra, pranayama, asana, meditation and relaxation in a unique blend.

While mastery of the practice may be one’s long-term goal, the focus in each class is on self-awareness in the moment. In general, yoga prepares one’s body for the deeper meditation offered when the gong is played at the end of the event. No two gong events are alike and generally induce a deep state of relaxation.

Dr. Khalsa recently completed doctoral studies in clinical psychology (Sofia University, 2021) during which he studied the mental health effects of listening to a recorded gong meditation. Individuals who listened to the recorded gong meditation most days for a two-week period showed generally lower levels of trait anxiety than those who either: listened to a recording of water sounds in nature or went about activities of daily living.

No prior experience is required. All levels are welcome.
