ST. GEORGE — Eagles Landing Travel Plazas based in Beaver Utah hosted their 6th Annual Veterans Charity Golf Tournament in Mesquite, Nevada, on Feb. 5 at the Palms Golf Course.

The weather was crisp and clear, perfect for the tournament participants who came to enjoy 18 holes of scramble golf for a great cause. The day started with a light breakfast being served followed by the Honor Guard from the Mesquite Veterans Center presenting the flag. After the flag ceremony, founder and CEO of Eagles Landing Travel Plazas, Mark Yardley took a few minutes to express his deep admiration for our men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and his company’s ongoing commitment to support those who have served in our military. With a blast from the cannon, the participants were off to golf the beautifully maintained course. With a challenging course and sponsored contests like a hole-in-one challenge, closest to pin, and longest drive, everyone had a great time regardless of how well they played.

After the tournament play concluded, guests were treated to lunch, with golfing and raffle prizes being awarded. The day was wrapped up by announcing the winners of the silent charity auction with items that were generously donated by local businesses and individuals to raise additional funds for the veterans. Eagles Landing once again pledged to match all net proceeds of the event. Last year’s tournament raised over $34,000 and this year was an even greater success, raising over $43,000 with all funds going directly to the local veterans’ organizations; The Southern Utah Veterans Home, The Mesquite Veterans Center and the Utah Guard Charitable Trust.

Eagles Landing Travel Plazas CEO Mark J Yardley, who started Eagles Landing back in 1987, says that “This annual event is a way for us to show our appreciation for the service of our veterans and to help give back to those who have given so much for us.”

Eagles Landing and High Country Fuels have been a landmark along I-15 for professional drivers and savvy travelers since they acquired their first location in Beaver Utah more than 30 years ago. Since then, they have grown to eleven locations including four large travel plazas on I-15 between Scipio, Utah, and Mesquite, Nevada, as well as expanding with locations in Arizona, Kansas, Texas and Iowa.
